Carlsen-Nepo, 1: Fierce battle ends in draw
World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen looked to be taking over in a tense first game of the FIDE World Chess Championship in Dubai, but just when it seemed Ian Nepomniachtchi might be in for a long evening of suffering the game fizzled out into a 45-move draw. Both players could take positives from a game in which Magnus came well-prepared in the opening with the black pieces, but Ian dug in and held a draw when required. (MORE LATER!)
